Candy AI: what it is, what it does well, and what it costs
2026-05-20 · Updated 2026-05-20 · By Théo Vasseur
More than 200,000 people search Google for "Candy AI" every month — ten times what most competitors in this category get. There's a reason it dominates the search results: it's one of the few apps in the category that actually delivers on what it sells. If you're hesitating to subscribe, this article tells you exactly what you'd be paying for, what it does well, what it costs, and the handful of frictions worth knowing about. Short, factual, no fluff.
Frequently asked questions
Is Candy AI worth it?
If you want chat-plus-image at the explicit level, Candy AI is one of the two realistic options on the market today, OurDream AI being the other. Character coherence holds across multi-day sessions, the customization is the deepest in the category (38 outfits, 12 traits, 24 inclinations combinable), and annual pricing is competitive at €6.38/month effective on Premium Plus. Three frictions are worth knowing: face regeneration sometimes produces near-identical results (keep the first generated face), the engine occasionally over-anchors on a single trait (balance it with a secondary one), and generated explicit images can diverge from the in-chat scene.
How much does Candy AI cost?
Candy AI Premium costs $13.99/€13.99 monthly, $8.99/€8.99 per month on 3-month billing, or $3.99/€3.99 per month on annual billing. Premium Plus (available on European pricing only) costs €22.38/month monthly, €14.38/month on 3-month, or €6.38/month effective on annual billing. Both tiers include unlimited text chat, image and video generation, and live voice and video sessions.
Is Candy AI safe?
Candy AI is operated by EverAI Limited, a registered company in Malta, with a public legal address and ToS. The platform publishes a blocked-content policy listing what it will not generate (minors, non-consensual scenarios, violence-coded content). Subscription charges appear on bank statements as "EverAI" rather than Candy AI — useful to know if you share statements. For a full audit of the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and data handling, see my Is Candy AI safe? article.
How does Candy AI compare to Character AI?
Character AI prohibits explicit sexual content outright and applies content moderation that interrupts adult scenes with fade-to-black or deflection. Candy AI permits both explicit text and explicit imagery within its stated content limits, with no fade-to-black moderation in adult conversation. If you want sustained adult companion interaction, Candy AI is one of the two realistic options on the market — OurDream AI being the other.
Can I use Candy AI on iPhone?
Candy AI is not on the App Store because Apple excludes adult-content apps under its review guidelines. To install on iPhone, open candy.ai in Safari, tap Share, then "Add to Home Screen" — this produces a Progressive Web App (a W3C web standard) that behaves as a near-native app for chat, image generation, and voice. On Android, install via the official APK from candy.ai or use Chrome's Add to Home Screen for the same result.
Who owns Candy AI?
Candy AI is operated by EverAI Limited, a company registered in Malta. The product launched in September 2023.
What Candy AI is
Candy AI is an adult-oriented AI companion app operated by EverAI Limited, a company registered in Malta. The product launched in September 2023 and has grown into the most-visited brand in its category, with public reporting putting it at around 10 million monthly website visits by 2025.
The product surface is five connected features:
- Chat with persistent AI characters, free-text or voice input
- Image generation of characters in user-described scenes, including explicit imagery
- Voice calls with real-time speech synthesis
- AI character creation — a granular customization flow producing a persistent avatar
- Video generation of the chosen character in short clips
The content position is stated by the company in its blocked-content policy. The platform supports adult sexual content within the categories the company excludes there. If you’re undecided about whether this category fits your use, read that policy page before subscribing — it lists what the product won’t generate.
One practical note up front: Candy AI is not on Apple’s App Store or Google Play. Both stores exclude adult-content apps under their content policies. Install paths on mobile are described in the pricing section below.
Why Candy AI stands out
Four things explain why Candy AI is the most-searched brand in the category, and why I cover it as one of the realistic options on the market.
Character coherence that holds across days, not minutes
This is the single biggest reason Candy AI works where other apps don’t. The conversational engine keeps personality across sessions — a character built today is the same character you talk to next week, with the same traits, the same history, the same conversational habits.
I built a character as a painter and she walked me through a fictional gallery visit: moving between rooms, commenting on works, picking up unfinished conversational threads after a break, never breaking profile. The Romance mode is where this shows cleanest. A character built to be a partner retains established traits and history across multiple days of conversation, handles second-degree humor, and paces an emerging relationship without skipping steps.
One small mechanic helps a lot. Actions typed between asterisks (*hands her a coffee*, *steps closer*) are read by the engine as performed gestures, and the character responds to them in the next message. It lets exchanges drift between dialogue and physical scene without breaking format.

Candy AI’s Romance mode — explicit imagery blurred for this article.
This is the structural difference with Character AI and Crushon AI. Character AI applies aggressive content moderation that interrupts adult scenes with fade-to-black or deflection — a friction for users wanting sustained adult conversation. Crushon AI uses looser filters but public reviews report character memory breakdowns after extended sessions. Candy AI sits in the small group of apps where conversation actually holds.
The deepest character customization in the category
The character creation flow exposes more dimensions than any comparable app I’ve covered: 38 outfits, 12 personality traits (plus a free-text custom-trait field), 20 relationship types, around 30 professions, 24 defined sexual inclinations (combinable up to three at a time), and 9 voice tones.
In practice, this means you can build very specific characters: a photographer with a confident voice, a “tease” trait, and a “neighbor” relationship type, then drop her into a scene and watch her stay consistent within those choices. Or a librarian with a softer voice, an “innocent” trait, and a “friend” relationship type — and she’ll behave differently from the photographer in every scene, not just on paper. The combinations matter and the engine respects them.
Character AI and Crushon AI both offer character creation but with fewer dimensions exposed. OurDream AI is comparable but documents its customization less publicly. Candy AI’s flow is the most detailed I’ve used in this category.
Real explicit content within stated limits
This is where the structural difference with the rest of the category is largest. Character AI prohibits explicit sexual content outright. Crushon AI permits explicit text but restricts imagery — partial nudity only, no visible genitalia.
Candy AI permits explicit text and explicit imagery within the standard exclusions the company lists in its blocked-content policy. If you’re looking specifically for the chat-plus-image combination at the explicit level, Candy AI and OurDream AI are the realistic options on the market today.
The chat doesn’t fade to black mid-scene. The image generator produces what you describe. Within the stated limits, the product does the thing it sells, which is rarer than it should be in this category.
Competitive annual pricing for what you get
Candy AI’s Premium Plus annual rate works out to €6.38/month effective. That’s the rate the company markets most heavily, and it’s competitive against everything in the category: Character AI’s paid tier is $9.99/month and doesn’t unlock adult content; Crushon AI’s entry tier is $5.99 but with thinner customization; OurDream AI prices in the same range as Candy AI but publishes specific monthly quotas Candy AI doesn’t list as separate caps.
For unlimited text chat, image and video generation, live voice and video sessions, the depth of customization described above, and the conversational engine quality described above, €6.38/month is the kind of pricing that makes the subscription easy to justify if you use it regularly.

What it costs at a glance
Before the paid tiers, the free access is worth describing because most other write-ups skip it. As a non-subscriber, you can do exactly three things on Candy AI: send up to 5 messages in chat (total, across all characters — not 5 per character), create 1 personalized AI character, and generate 1 image (either via the dedicated generator or inside a conversation). No voice, no video, no explicit scenes, no extended Romance mode, no additional avatars. The free access reads as a preview, not a usable plan — which matches the limits.
Candy AI then sells two subscription tiers, each at three billing terms. The annual rate is what the company markets most heavily. The full breakdown — token economics, renewal behavior, dark-pattern checks — is in my pricing deep-dive (publishes separately).
| Tier | 1 month | 3 months | 12 months |
|---|---|---|---|
| Premium | $13.99 / €13.99 | $8.99 / €8.99 per month | $3.99 / €3.99 per month |
| Premium Plus ¹ | €22.38/month | €14.38/month | €6.38/month |
¹ Premium Plus appears on the European pricing page but does not appear on the US-facing subscription page. I verified this directly on candy.ai/subscriptions from a US-geolocated session. I didn’t find a public explanation for this difference. Prices listed in EUR only here, since I didn’t see a USD figure to cite.

The US subscription page — Premium Plus is absent from the US-facing flow.
Both tiers include unlimited text chat, AI avatar creation, image and video generation, and live voice and video sessions. The Premium Plus tier adds 230 tokens per month (versus 100 on Premium), early access to new characters, a 10% token bonus on top-up packs, and 20 memory slots per character (versus 3 on Premium). Cancellation is reportedly available from account settings in a few clicks — I document the actual flow, screen by screen, in the review.
On tokens. Candy AI uses a token system for specific paid actions on top of the subscription: image generation costs 2 tokens (4 for explicit), voice calls 3 tokens per minute, 5-second video 12 tokens, 10-second video 20 tokens, custom character creation 10 tokens. Top-up packs start at €9.99 for 200 tokens and go up to €299.99 for 7,500. On the Premium plan, light to moderate use doesn’t require additional token purchases. Heavy users — especially on Premium standard — will hit the cap and need to top up. Full consumption math is in the pricing deep-dive.
On the bank statement. Subscription charges appear under “Ever AI” rather than “Candy AI”. Worth knowing if you share a card or if someone else checks your statements.

On mobile installation. Candy AI is not on the App Store or Play Store — both stores exclude adult-content apps under their policies (Apple’s App Store Review Guidelines section 1.1; Google Play’s Restricted Content policy on sexual content). The standard install path on iOS is Safari → Share → Add to Home Screen, which produces a Progressive Web App — a W3C web standard, not a workaround. The icon behaves as a near-native app for chat, image, and voice. On Android, an official APK is available from the candy.ai site, or a Chrome “Add to Home Screen” shortcut works the same way. I’ve tested both routes; both work as described. I don’t recommend third-party APK distributors. Full walkthrough is in the review.

Who’s using Candy AI
I rely on public sources for this section, and the picture they paint is consistent with the strengths described above.
Headcount claim and what I can measure. Candy AI’s subscription page states “Trusted by 50 million people worldwide”. Public visit measurements (SEMrush) put the site at around 10 million monthly visits. The two figures don’t measure the same thing — registered accounts over the platform’s lifetime is one number, distinct monthly visitors is another — but both are high, and both put Candy AI clearly ahead of everything else in the category.
Where the visitors come from. SEMrush places Candy AI’s visitor base at 28% United States (about 9.4 million monthly visits), 9% Germany (2.9 million), 7% India (2.2 million), and 5% France (1.6 million). The rest is distributed across other markets — meaning Candy AI is dominant globally, not just in one region.
Public ratings. Trustpilot lists Candy AI at around 4.1 stars across roughly 100 reviews analyzed by independent aggregators — 58% at five stars, 9% at one star. The five-star reviews concentrate on the things this article has already named as strengths: chat quality, image generation, and the depth of character customization.
Reddit discourse. Discussions across general AI-tool subreddits describe a user base that returns to the app frequently and benchmarks Candy AI against Character AI and Crushon AI specifically. Users who praise Candy AI cite specific features — character creation depth, the persistence of the Romance mode across sessions. Users who criticize it cite specific frictions, which I cover next.
Where it falls short
Three frictions are worth flagging before you subscribe. None are deal-breakers for most use cases, but you should know about them so you’re not surprised.
Face regeneration produces near-identical results. After the character creation flow concludes, you land on a screen showing the generated face. A “regenerate” option costs 1 token per attempt. Across multiple test sessions, the regenerated faces were visually almost indistinguishable from the originals — particularly noticeable on the Asian-ethnicity preset. You’re paying for an action that doesn’t produce an observable difference. Knowing this in advance: don’t burn tokens on regenerations, work with the first face you get.
Original
Regenerated (1 token) The engine occasionally locks onto a single trait. Characters built around a strong defining trait sometimes return to that trait across most exchanges. I observed it on two separate characters: one built around a hand fetish kept returning to that subject across unrelated exchanges; another built around an “innocent and submissive” trait took several conversational days to allow contact beyond a narrow physical limit. The engine appears to over-anchor on a single profile attribute. Workaround: when you build a character, balance the dominant trait with a secondary one — it dilutes the over-anchoring.
Generated explicit images sometimes diverge from the in-chat scene. During explicit chat sequences, the image the product generates from within the conversation occasionally depicts a specific act that differs from the one being described in text. It’s not the norm — image-to-chat alignment generally works — but it happens reliably enough to document. If precision matters in a given scene, generate the image via the dedicated generator with an explicit prompt rather than through the chat.
The honest verdict
Candy AI is the most-searched brand in its category for a reason. The conversational engine holds personality across days, the character customization is the deepest I’ve used in this category, the content policy lets the product actually do what it sells, and the annual pricing is competitive against everything else on the market. The three frictions documented above are real but localized — easy enough to work around once you know they’re there.
If chat-plus-image at the explicit level is what you’re looking for, Candy AI is one of the two realistic options worth subscribing to right now — OurDream AI being the other. Between them, Candy AI has the deeper character customization and the broader user base; OurDream AI publishes more specific monthly quotas.
